Do you use your drum machine as MIDI instrument, and if so how do you it to work with protools. I have a Mac G5 & protools, Mbox, a M-audio MIDI interface where i have my DR-5 connected.

Hi James, You can use your drum machine in protools. First you have to configure your midi setup within protools so that it recognizes the drum machine. Then, you have to enable the drum machine to receive MIDI clocks. Then, you create an aux track and a MIDI track in your protools session. In the MIDI track set the output to the drum machine (if it is not an available choice, you haven't configured your MIDI correctly internally...in protools). Then, in the aux track set the input to the drum machine. Then, record enable the MIDI track, make sure the volume on the drum machine, the MIDI track, and the aux track are up "enough" and, assuming you have the MIDI cables correct, you should be able to control your drum machine within protools using a piano keyboard or not. You can also use MIDI to trigger a song you have programed in your drum machine to start at a specific time in your session. If you cant figure it out, give me a call and we'll sort it out. Good Luck, Eric
